Potential Schedule and Some News

Wow. I’m almost a junior! How exciting is that!? I’m almost halfway done with my college career. But a new semester means…new classes!

In a similar vein of future, I have something to share with the blog: I am officially only an Art History major.

After my trip to Philadelphia and talking to my brother’s professors at Penn about Art History graduate school, I realized that I really want to throw myself fully into Art History, that this is what I want to do with my life. I also realized that double majoring had really stressed me out of the last two years. I’ve taken five classes every semester in my first two years of college so that I could do this.  But if I want to go to graduate school in Art History, how much is an English B.A. going to help me get in? And how much might it even hurt me if taking English classes prevents me from taking Art History classes here at Agnes, or doing as well as I can in those I do take, especially my senior seminar coming up in Fall 2012.

So I talked to my advisors, who were really supportive, and I decided this would be the time to drop my English major. With my Brit Lit class this semester, I’ve just finished an English minor, so none of the classes I have taken with have been “wasted” in elective space.

My schedule for next semester reflects my changing plan, and my changing methods of maintaining sanity. I told myself that I was going to only take four classes, and I am sticking to it.

The theme of my courses is: Italia! I’m still planning on going to Italy Spring 2012, and as it would happen, the classes I get to take all have to do with Italy!

So the classes are: The Age of Cathedrals (Art History), Renaissance Italy: Ideas, Culture and Lived Experience (History), Cicero (Latin), and Italian at Emory!

  1. Good for you, Emma! Do what you love! (even if you are leaving the *sob* us English folks behind. . .)
